How it works

Hi everyone, Neo here, creator of Mayoi. A lot of people like myself are using textbooks like Genki to learn, and memorizing vocabulary is a pain for me. I've used apps like Anki before, but the problem with that was it was never engaging, and I've also used Duolingo, but the problem with Duolingo is that it told me the wrong pronunciation to the point I couldn't actually understand Japanese people. That's where Mayoi comes in. It basically teaches you Japanese with context. So when I start the app, I get a feed. When I click start session, I get a scene, I can hear actual people speaking the Japanese language. I get the text here. I can open it, I get the actual sentence, and I get the definition. Then I choose if I know it or if I don't know it. And what's cool about this is that I can actually get more context on what else was said, get an understanding of what everything means. Moreover, I can pick which books I'm currently on. At the moment, it's Genki I. I'm going to be adding more stuff as we go. Try out the app, see how you go. No. Mayoi is designed to make early vocabulary feel recognisable through repeated exposure, not to replace a complete grammar course.
